Distance
Written By Angelina Wilson
A deep desperation
Forget falling to the darkness
My eyes cannot close without being subjected
To a holograph
A memory of your presence beside me
You reside across mountains and miles
Of highway
A room my arms cannot reach
And my breath can’t hover
Hands clench into fists
Digging into rough fabric
Muscles pop
A twin mattress bed, unkept, untidy
Yearning for your curls, your warmth,
And your even disposition
Asleep during the day
Awakened as the dark arises
Let me reside in you
Let my lips caress your brow as I listen
Silently to the even movements of your
Chest
Let my fingertips lightly trace your veins
Till I’ve traveled all your lines
Let my heart beat to the cadence of the
Dreams flickering behind your eyelids
Let me be still
With the lonely night
I am restless
Thoughts flooded with illusions
Visions I can only hope come to pass
Brightened only by your smile
No greater pain than distance
My nights haunted by miles
